[Review] Laneige Water Sleeping Pack

Hey Everyone!
This is my first review post and I'm going to review a product which I've been using for a year or two now; The Laneige Water Sleeping Pack.

I must admit, I'm addicted face mask. I'm on a constant look out for new ones to try out and buy. Needless to say I hoarded enough to last me a lifetime.

My first experience with sleeping masks was given to me by my cousins in a sample pack of Laneige Water Bank products. I fell in love immediately with the sleeping mask and have trialled ones from other brands (such as Skin79) but this was the one I kept coming back to.

Song Hye Kyo is the brand ambassador. She is absolutely gorgeous! Her skin is so radiant and flawless- who could resist not trying this out?

What are sleeping masks?

The conventional facial masks such as clay and sheet masks are used on a clean face. The sleeping masks are designed to be left on through the night as the last step of your night time skincare regime. The benefits of sleeping masks rely on the skin's response to circadian rhythms. During the night, the permeability of the skin is higher than during the day. This means that any product that is applied to your face will be absorbed better at night.

The Laneige Water Sleeping Pack is advertised as a hydrating and brightening mask. The core components of the mask is Beta-glucan (which has skin regeneration effects), Ceremide SLN (which prevents moisture loss), Hunza Apricot Extract (purifies the skin) and Chestnut Extract (improve the skin's texture by eliminating dead skin cells).

The product is a light blue water based- gel. When applied on the face it provides a soothing and cooling sensation. ( I store this product in the fridge to prolong the life of the product and for an extra kick of cool-ness) The scent is very pleasant- it was specifically designed to relax 'the body and mind for a good night's sleep'. The patented scent formula comprises of essential oils from orange flower, rose, ylang ylang, sandalwood etc.

How I Use It

The packaging recommends the mask to be used once till twice a week. For me, since I have a lot of sheet facial masks and mud masks, I use this mask when I'm too lazy or tired to apply those ones or as a 'pick-me-up' when my skin feels a little dehydrated. With that being said, I have heard of those who use this product on a daily basis as a night cream, whether or not the skin will grow a tolerance to it, however, I don't know.

I use only a pea size amount, which is just enough to cover my face with the thinnest layer of the product.  I find that anything more than that tends to make my face feel overly sticky and uncomfortable. Since it is the last step of the skincare regime, I feel like this mask sort of seals in all the goodness and prevents all the goodness that I applied previously from dissipating (as silly as that sounds).

The side with the mask feels much smoother with the layer of moisture on top!

Results

The morning after, you'll wake up with a slightly oily film on your face. However, don't be alarmed. This film is easily wash off with some warm water, leaving behind hydrated and smooth skin. However, I would still recommend using a moisturiser.

The brightening effects of this mask is not obvious. So if you are looking for a brightening mask in particular, this is probably not the one for you. However, for those who want a boost in hydration, you'll love this mask- your skin will just drink in all the yummy goodness.

I love this product so much that it has become a staple in my skincare regime.

  6. Hi Carmen! Welcome to the beauty blogging community :) It's great to come across a fellow Sydney blogger who shares the same interest!

This sounds like a great product. I've never tried sleeping masks before since I am an absolute noob when it comes to skin care regimes and take advantage of my acne / blemish free skin haha!

  9. Oh wow, this is my first time hearing about a sleeping mask! I didn't know you could do that! But you're right - our skin repairs it cells when we sleep, so it makes sense!

I just wonder though... does it get on your pillow? Haha!

Sounds pretty cool! Thanks for sharing! xx

    1. At first I was concerned about it getting on my pillow- but it absorbs really well into the skin like a moisturiser so no smudging on pillow at all!
